Prickly heat

Prickly heat is the bane of the sun-loving, pale-skinned UK resident, who breaks out in itchy red lumps the moment the sun’s rays fasten on their delicate flesh. So how can you cool it?

  • Urtica tincture will be an enormous help, often ridding the skin of the offensive lumps and bumps in a matter of hours. If you know you are prone to this problem, take Urtica for a couple of weeks before heading to the sun, and continue it throughout your stay
  • Avoid stimulants that might exacerbate your rash – don’t drink heaps of coffee or bathe your insides entirely in alcohol. Try to drink plenty of still water and fruit juices every day.

Rashes

One of the most common summer skin problems is the dreaded rash. Obviously it’s always a sound notion to get any new skin rash checked out medically before piling in with remedies yourself.

Many people, however, don’t get an answer to their skin symptom – it just appears and does its own thing! So what can help?

  • Echinacea is always a smart idea. It has traditionally been used for skin problems as it can clear up the causes of a skin reaction, and will stop you getting a summer cold as well!

Itchy Skin, Sunburn, Insect Bites and Stings

Your skin loses more moisture in the summer months, so if your skin is red and irritated, feeling itchy or sore, it is wonderful to have something soothing to smooth on.

Neem Cream can help by soothing and bringing comfort to dry, sun burnt and sore skin, helping the skin to recover. And whether it’s a day at the park or holidaying abroad, insect bites and stings are just part and parcel of the summer experience, so try Insect Repellent with Neem oil to repel those little nasties and use Neem Cream to soothe if they do bite!

Here are some other natural tips to help your skin stay in tip top condition:

  • Keep it hydrated: One of the simplest and most effective things you can do for your skin is to drink more water! Skin keeps water out, but we need quite a lot of water inside, to plump up the skin and make it fresh and dewy-looking
  • Protect your skin: Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. When you’re outdoors, reapply sunscreen every two hours — or more often if you’re swimming or perspiring
  • Fresh Exercise: Exercise outside to prime your system full of oxygen to make your skin glow – just remember that sunscreen!
  • Eat Better: A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole- grains and lean proteins.
